Cryotherapy is an advanced innovation that is a fast, effective, safe solution for removing skin imperfections such as skin tags.
Cryotherapy Treatment
The process of cryotherapy is over in minutes. After treatment the skin tag will become swollen then will scab over, and fall off within one to two weeks.
Skin tags commonly occur in areas where there is friction, such as in skin folds or where clothing rubs on the skin. They are a small growth on the skin, connected by a small, thin stalk. Most skin tags are harmless, however they can look unsightly especially if they are on an exposed area of the body.
CryoPen
CryoPen is a form of cryotherapy which emits a fine jet of nitrous oxide under high pressure, allowing millimetre precision. This means the skin tag is targeted directly, so there is no damage to surrounding healthy tissue. The nitrous oxide destroys the skin tag tissue by freezing the fluid inside the cells which rupture the membranes, thereby destoying the cell.
What to expect
Immediately after treatment the skin tag will become red and swollen, and a blister may occur. Within one week the swelling will reduce and a scab will develop. The scab will fall off within one to two weeks, but in some cases can take up to one month.
Cosmetic procedures such as skin tag removal are no longer being offered by many practitioners on the NHS, so treatment at Nurse Cosmetics is a good alternative.
Patient Testimonials

What's Involved?
AnnaLouise offers a free initial consultation to discuss treatment options, and to give an opportunity to ask any questions.
Initial Consultation
During this appointment your medical history will be discussed to ensure any prescription medications or health issues will not be affected by treatment. Your skin tags will then be assessed to check they are suitable for the procedure. There will be plenty of opportunity to discuss treatment options, and for you to ask questions.
Treatment
Prior to the procedure you will need to sign a consent form. AnnaLouise will give information on the benefits and risks of cryotherapy to equip you with the knowledge needed to confirm you are happy to proceed. The procedure itself takes only a few minutes, but the appointment time is 30 minutes to allow enough time for relevant paperwork to be completed.
Follow Up Appointment
You are welcome to attend a follow up appointment if you have any questions or concerns following treatment. This appointment is optional and most people do not require any follow up care after this procedure.

Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some of the most commonly asked questions by our clients.
If you have a question which is not listed here send us a message or book a consultation.
There will be a pain sensation similar to a stinging nettle on the skin when the nitrous oxide reaches the base of the skin tag. There might be a little residual stinging after treatment, this should resolve within a few minutes.
Cryotherapy is a relatively low risk procedure. AnnaLouise uses CryoPen to deliver nitrous oxide to the skin tag, this allows it to directly target the area and avoid the healthy surrounding tissue. CryoPen is CE and FDA registered.
All possible side effects of Cryotherapy are discussed in full during initial consultation. Although very low risk there are few side effects that may occur, these include redness and swelling, temporary nerve damage, hair follicle damage and permanent alopecia (especially when treating areas with coarse hair). There is also a small risk of temporary skin colour changes known as hypo or hyperpigmentation.
Yes that is absolutely fine, please let AnnaLouise know this is your intention at the time of booking.
