Dermal fillers are injected just below the surface of the skin, and work by instantly replacing volume lost as a result of ageing.
Dermal Filler Treatment
Results of treatment can be seen immediately, and last between 12 - 24 months depending on the type and quantity of filler used.
AnnaLouise uses MD Codes for assessment and treatment using dermal fillers. This is an innovative way of treating facial lines, developed by international expert Mauricio de Maio. MD Codes are precise sites in the face where injecting dermal fillers will create optimal, natural looking lift and rejuvenation. This revolutionary method of treatment is far safer and superior to other traditional methods.
Treatment Areas
Areas commonly treated with dermal fillers include cheeks, chin, jawline, nose to mouth lines, smokers lines (above the lips) and marionette lines.
Treatment Plan
Several syringes of filler may be required in order to achieve optimal rejuvenation - this will depend on the severity of volume loss caused by ageing . A course of treatment will be recommended during initial consultation, and treatment is normally carried out gradually over several appointments. This is your choice, and if you are satisfied with results following one syringe there will be absolutely no pressure to return for more.
AnnaLouise has received advanced training in dermal fillers and has over 10 years aesthetic experience so you can rest assured you are in safe hands!

Patient Testimonials
I'm so pleased with results of my cheek fillers, they look amazing! There was hardly any swelling, and my face looks fresher and rejuvenated just as AnnaLouise said it would - I only wish I'd done it sooner!
AnnaLouise explained procedures thoroughly, had time for my questions and was very professional. I was nervous about having my nose to mouth lines treated with filler, but it was far less painful than I expected, and I'm delighted with results.

Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some of the most commonly asked questions by our clients.
If you have a question which is not listed here send us a message or book a consultation.
No, AnnaLouise uses the Juvederm range of fillers, which is non-permanent. The effects of treatment last 12-24 months, but depends on factors such as age, lifestyle and volume of filler injected.
Juvederm contains hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring molecule which creates volume in the skin. It also contains lidocaine which is a local anaesthetic to ensure a more comfortable treatment experience.
Prior to injection a local anaesthetic cream is applied directly to the area and this is given plenty of time to take effect. There is also a numbing agent in the filler itself so the level of pain and discomfort is kept to a minimum. The majority of people treated are pleasantly surprised about the level of pain, and say it is less than they were expecting.
Yes, there are possible side effects of dermal fillers. Common side effects include inflammatory skin reactions such as redness , swelling, itchiness and bruising. These effects are all temporary and should resolve within a week. Although extremely rare there are other more serious risks of treatment; these include skin discolouration, abscesses, granulomas (foreign body reaction) and immediate or delayed hypersensitivity. Another extremely rare but serious risk of fillers is blockage of a blood vessel causing lack of blood supply to affected areas. AnnaLouise has had full training on management of complications, and is qualified to dissolve the filler using a dissolving enzyme called Hyaluronidase if there was any concern that the filler had caused a blockage.
During initial consultation AnnaLouise can advise on which filler and volume is most appropriate for you, this is based on desired outcome of treatment. In the Juvederm range of fillers there is a product with a thin consistency suitable for filling very superficial lines, slightly thicker filler for deeper lines and a stronger filler recommended for structual support eg.cheeks and jawline.
Dermal fillers are not to be used during pregnancy, or while breast feeding. Another contraindication is known allergy to hyaluronic acid injections, or the prescence of a skin infection in the area to be treated.
It is best to avoid excessive or very strenuous exercise for 24 hours, and to avoid wearing makeup until the day after treatment. Avoid extreme sun exposure, saunas and steam rooms for two weeks, as the the high heat can make swelling more prounounced. If you are having fillers for a special event make sure you allow time after your appointment for swelling to settle - generally 1 week is sufficient but AnnaLouise will advise on this during your consultation.
A cannula is a blunt-tipped, hollow tube which attaches on to the end of a syringe of filler. It is much longer than a needle so can reach further and fill several areas of the face with a single entry point. This means there is less chance of bruising and swelling than when using needles, and a reduced risk of complications such as inadvertently injecting filler into a blood vessel. AnnaLouise uses the cannula technique wherever possible, however sometimes needles are more appropriate as it is more precise therefore good for delicate areas.
